About MotionLab.Berlin

MotionLab.Berlin is a 4500 sqm Berlin-based hardtech innovation hub and makerspace with access to exclusive machinery for prototyping in combination with coworking and community. In MotionLab.Berlin, everyone can realize their ideas and build successful startups. Our goal is to create the most innovative hardtech startup community and offer everyone affordable access to space and resources, capital, knowledge and influence. 

 Let us co-create the most versatile Makerspace in the world

Together with our Head of Operational Business, you will lead the operational team and set up a tech team. Together you will develop new visions for the labs, support our members in tech-topics and develop training programs. Your field of activity revolves around the design of a unique prototyping environment.

Your responsibility

General

  • Define a clear vision for each lab and and implement it
  • Plan, direct, and control the makerspace in relation to personnel, equipment, operations and budget 
  • You are the expert for machines, tools and product development and you are always looking to improve our member’s experience

Management

  • You organize and lead the tech infrastructure team 
  • You will develop new workshops for our members to learn how to use machines
  • You manage the training and coordination of the workshop leaders

Daily operations

  • You are responsible for tech infrastructure’s daily operations
  • You keep our machines running & well oiled
  • You support our Members to build their products
  • Become the “go-to-person” for all tech-questions
  • You foster a collaborative working culture between our members
  • Determine the appropriate equipment set and establish a maintenance program
  • Develop and implement policies to align space usage with the mission and priorities of the makerspace

About you

  • You are passionate about machines, prototyping and co-creating hardware projects in a team
  • You have experience working in a makerspace or similar operation
  • You have already built your own projects using CNC-Machines, 3D-printers, Electronics and Lasercutters
  • You know your way around materials like wood, plastics, metals and textiles
  • You are able to question the status quo and develop your own vision, inspire people and find ways to implement them
  • You have strong people skills and like working with others

optional:

  • Experience in dealing with business partners
  • You can develop your own services and find the right partners
  • Experience in educational workshop planning and instruction
  • Industrial design, and making/prototyping
