About Suncrafter GmbH:

SunCrafter is a Berlin based clean-tech start up, founded in 2019 which creates innovative, stand-alone solar systems. Our goal is to power the mobility transition with a public charging infrastructure for light electric vehicles, such as eScooters and eBikes.

By integrating 2nd-life components, we make solar power even more sustainable, inclusive and economic. We are working simultaneously on business development and on several research-based as well as practical projects in Germany and beyond. To power the world without consuming the earth, we need you!

Your responsibilities:

To unlock the potential of micromobility with solar powered infrastructure, we create fantastic products which many people want to see in public and private space. Our products need to evolve with the markets’ demand, be highly functional and reliable when it comes to docking and charging various types of light electric vehicles, satisfy the needs of different customer groups and be at the same time recognizable as a typical “SunCrafter” product. We have gotten quite somewhere but want to improve our existing products even further. We also want to create new products which respond to customer requests and allow us to create value at scale.

At a young company like ours you will cover a broad range of jobs and responsibilities, which makes the job truly never boring. We love it when you bring in your own ideas and concepts as we love to learn and do not believe in overly hierarchical structures. You will work directly with the CPO and other team members on things like:

  • Design from scratch - evaluating product requirements through to building the first prototype of a new product with us
  • Iterating on existing questions, evaluating customer feedback and putting the necessary changes in place
  • Assessment of materials
  • CAD drawing
  • Rendering
  • Operating CNC machines
  • Lasercutting
  • Creation of renderings
  • Potentially assistance with other parts of the product such as the IoT or electronics, offering a learning opportunity and holistic understanding of the solar stations

Your talents:

  • You are a passionate and hands on product creator
  • You stand out for being both creative as well as technically interested
  • Computer aided design, material sciences and structural analysis are not new to you
  • You have designed and developed products before and understand the process as well as the potential hurdles
  • You know that “Customer is Queen” and are open to work with their requirements
  • You bring your own original ideas to the table but also aspire to work toward a unique and recognizable “SunCrafter” style
  • You have good interaction skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team with whom you enjoy finding ideas and organising tasks
  • You are self driven and have an eye for what needs to happen next when you are in a project
  • You study in BA or MA something to do with product or industrial design (For internship: In your curriculum you are required to absolve an internship).
  • You have a passion for sustainability in general and/or sustainable development, renewable energy, circular economy, e-mobility in particular
  • You want to bring your talents in this field and grow professionally into it
  • You are fluent in English, German is a bonus (Company language is “denglish” as we are a international team)
  • Other design skills such as graphic design, brand design, UX design etc are a bonus
  •

What we offer:

  • Together we build new infrastructure for new mobility solutions and more livable cities. You can become a part of this exciting ride.
  • With a key role in our company growth you create real impact for the company and beyond
  • You gain insight into the world of an impact/green tech start up
  • You get to try out the exciting working environment of MotionLab.Berlin with loads of possibilities for getting creative
  • You can make use of rather flexible working hours and some home office options
  • We dare say we are a very nice and welcoming team
  • Fair compensation (pay for internship and working student differs)
  • Opportunities to grow with the business and support with your personal and professional development wherever possible

Next steps:

  • You profile ticks quite some of the boxes and you can’t wait to start your journey in the world of sustainability and start ups? Send us your motivation, CV and maybe some insight into work you have done, even if just on a small personal scale. Let us know why you would like to join the ride!
  • We answer you within a few days, maybe we have some more questions or maybe we schedule an interview directly
